Strawberry Cake and Patience

Y'all I won't even lie to you... this Strawberry Cake was the most complicated process for a cake I have made to date. Having to sit and stir the reduction for 20 minutes non stop right from the beginning was not what I was wanting to do. Within an hour I was so over making that cake that I started to not enjoy myself and it was becoming a burden instead of a gift and blessing. That is when I told myself I needed to pause and take a moment to redirect my heart and mind back onto the right track. You see when I am baking I don't (usually) have to think to much and my mind can wander. That is why it is so relaxing to bake at least for me. This cake though wasn't allowing me to do that. I was having to pay a lot of attention to what I was doing and therefore it was messing up the "process" I usually work with. After taking that moment to pause and redirect myself I began to see the learning opportunity God was taking by using this cake as the example.

Patience is not something we come by naturally. Patience is a learned trait, something that everyone will always strive to have more of as we grow and mature. This cake was making me lose my patience and God never intended for us to lose our patience over such small trivial things. God was nudging me to stop and reflect for a moment so that I could see that even though the "process" wasn't going how I wanted it to go I could still enjoy the task itself by having patience.

Do you need more patience? I challenge you today to stop, take a moment, and reflect. Patience is something we have to choose to have and use it will never just present itself naturally.
